A mixed bag of interesting things from last week:
- What would happen if a UK university went bust?
- The university challenge: what would an Intelligent Brexit look like?
- Qwant – a European search engine whose philosophy is based on two principles: no user tracking and no filter bubble. In my quest to use Google as little as possible, I’ve been using DuckDuckGo for a while now, but it often didn’t perform as I wished. Happily, I now know about Qwant and will be using it as my default search tool from now on.
- Trombino at Festival du court métrage Clermont-Ferrand – fab way to display conference delegates’ photos and affiliations (and it’s searchable). As well as being there on the website, it was also showing on a large screen at the conference centre (randomly switching between images every few seconds). I can imagine this working well at an event like UKSG Conference.
